Default Hemi- Any gain ??

Do you gain anything if you put a bigger inlet muffler on your hemi ? I have an 2004 hemi and i was going to put a 3" inlet muffler with 2.5 outlets that i ordered on it. but i think the pipe is only 2.5 the shop said that it will still work useing adaptors ?? let me know what you guys think

Stock piping should be 3" after the Y So 3" inlet is just fine. Change out the factory Y with a more flowing one if you have not already.

Its 2.5" from the exhaust manifolds to the cats to the Y, then 3" from the Y to the muffler. So you should be good to go unless you bought it used and the other person did some work to modify the exhaust. As far as gains go.... it will sound good and maybe free up a few hp but nothing you will feel on the butt dyno with the muffler alone.

You are going to flow as well as the most restrictive part of the intake/exhaust anyway. I agree with truckin', if there are any gains at all, they'd be too insignificant to feel...

Nah, it'll be fine, they'll just neck it down to 2.5""
