Default Failed Inspection

I honestly expected to have possible issues with getting my truck inspected and road-legal over here. What I DIDN'T expect, was why I was turned away. No mention of the 33" off-road tires (ok, they are only A/T's, but they are obviously not stock). No mention of the obnoxious exhaust. Nope. I was failed because I did not have a permanent front tag mount, and because of the lights behind the grille. He said he probably would have let me slide with the tint if it were the only write up, but, I got dinged for that, too.

Oh well... I have three weeks to get it all taken care of before my temp tag runs out. I need to stop someone else here with a Ram and see what they did for the front plate. I'd rather something purpose-built instead of just drilling some screws into the fascia to hold it on. Removing the tint should be no big deal. I'd just rather not have to do it. I did not put the KC lights in, so I'll have to see how they are wired, and if it would be possible to just temporarily remove them for the few hours I need. I am also looking to get a set of stock rims and tires to put on just for the inspection. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the exhaust. Maybe I should try and get all that other stuff done ASAP, and see if it will pass with the current exhaust.

All in all, I guess it's good that I finally have my truck here, now. People move over a bit more and concede right-of-way a bit more than they did when I was in the Jeep. I do miss the Wrangler's turning radius, though...

I have a set of 255/75R17 stock Goodyear's in the garage that came off my wife's Jeep. I have done the math in the tire fitment thread, and see they are a roughly 32" tire. I know they will fit, height/width-wise, easily (didn't really have to do the math for that, but wanted to cover all the self-help bases). What I am not 100% positive about, is will they fit on stock 17" Ram wheels, and/or what backspacing do I need if I want to buy a set of cheap aftermarket wheels in order to keep them inside the wheel wells?

I read that. As I said, I did the math (which was actually irrelevant to my real query), but that thread also stated that it was not about tire fitment to a particular wheel, which was kind of my question. If the stock tires are 265/17, then obviously a 255/17 would fit inside the wheel well. I just did not know the backspacing of the stock wheels to fit inside. Also, not sure of the width of the stock wheel, itself, and if those particular tires would fit the Ram wheel (or equivalent aftermarket). Not concerned about rub or anything like that, which is what that thread mainly pertains to. Perhaps I overlooked it, but thanks for the answer, though. That's what I needed.

I did learn a lot about deciphering tire sizes, which is invaluable information. I love when I figure out math equations.
