06 Ram 1500 mod suggestions
I want to know of any good mods that would be worth purchasing for my truck for better sound/performance. What I have is a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 slt. I have a rancho 4" suspension lift, 10,000k Hid's but im going to change to 8000k's, dual flowmaster exhaust which is no where near loud as I want it, I have tires and rims what I really need suggestions for is how to make my truck louder. Would it be possible to get a cherry bomb extreme muffler installed with my flowmasters? If so would it be a better idea to get the exhaust dumped underneath? Also, Iv'e heard something about an IAT resistor mod, not sure what that is, but i want to know of all possible ways to make my truck louder without removing stuff such as catys that will make me fail an emissions inspection. Just let me know if anything y'all know of!
I have an 18" Glasspack setup. I have a Magnaflow Y Pipe which replaced my front stock Y to single 3" to my glasspack and then duals out to 2.5". I deleted the stock muffler and resonator. My truck is not too loud or too quiet. I like it the way it is.
If you want it loud, put a cold air intake on it. Mine had that and a cheapo small straight through performance muffler on it. Was super loud... changed the muffler to try and quiet it (it was too loud when towing my trailer, dogs couldn't take it and would freak out). Still was too loud with a flowmaster series 70 big block on it (think huge chambered muffler). Outside was quiet, inside you couldn't stand it. Put a factory air box on, and presto instant doggy sanity. Verdict, the intake needs muffling as much as the exhaust.
So, if you want to "hear" your truck as much as the neighbors are (or more), try removing the airbox and putting a cold air intake on. Doesn't make tons of difference on performance, but it sounds like it does. Plus, it saves you another exhaust job and the neighbors won't have to put up with excess obnoxious vehicle noise.

A CAI that comes off the throttle body and isn't too boxed up where the filter is will add a nice growl! i know it was like night and day on mine compared to the stock air box, and its just a cheapo off ebay!
