hey all, Im a new member from MA. In search of a new (used) ram in the range of 2006-2008 1500 crew cab hemi. I currently drive an 07 CTS-V and will be trading her in due to the fact that she just isnt good for work or the winter. My pervious truck was n 06 F150 5.4, was not impressed with that trucks power at all and it had issues with the spark plugs becoming stuck and breaking in the block upon removal.

With that said is there any specific things i should be checking for on this year range of trucks? I dont want to run into any expensive fixes like i did with ford that they dont cover. I have read some info on the 4WD not working correctly on these trucks but thats all ive seem to come across. was this problem resolved or are their any other major issues i should be looking for?

One more thing, how do these engines respond to mods for HP gains? someone told me you cant touch the factory exhaust or else it will loose HP??

Thanks for any input in advance! just trying to get as much info as i can before i jump into another loan. thanks!

Mike

Welcome to the site! I don't have a 4x4 so I don't know of any problems. What have you read about specifically. Around here it does you no good to be general. As for what you heard about the exhaust I will call BS because just about everyone on here has ripped off their stock exhaust (and Y pipe) for a better flowing and sounding muffler

Easy bud. Not all views are from actual members. DF logs visitors who cannot post as a viewer too!

The rear LSD equipt diffs cause some issue's. There's a retaining clip that breaks loose and can lock up the diff. This is mostly on 02-05's but can still happen on 06+ but it's not as common.
Read the "Common Problems" sticky for more info.

Good luck

welcome to the site. good luck on your purchase. You wont be dissapointed in your choice. Lots of MOD opportunity for the HEMI. And ya I will agree w/ 08hemi1500 on the exhaust comment. opening her up a little to breath better only helps.
