Anyone have or know of a place i can get some black exhaust tips that are 3 inches or bigger.. i thought i had bought stainless steel tips but they are starting to rust, so apparently they are not stainless steel, and now i want some black ones

I'm not sure I've ever seen a black exhaust tip, but have you tried just plasti-dip'n the "Stainless Steel" one?

Everything I know about stainless steel I know from the context of firearms. And, what I know from that, is that stainless steel is NOT 100% rustproof. It is corrosion resistant (I think there are three or four different compounds of SS with different resistant properties), but will definitely corrode, pit and all-out rust over time and when subjected to corrosive elements unless surgically cleaned. In firearms, this means powder residue/carbon, sweat and dirt. In vehicle accessories, the exposure is much more severe when you take into account road dirt and rocks being kicked up and chipping the items, salt and cinder during the winters, snow, mud, and impurities in the rain and air, itself. Stainless steel will rust with time on a vehicle. All you can really do is try to slow down the process by keeping the parts clean and coated, if possible.

I've seen black tips before. I *think* I've even seen them on a vehicle here on base, before. If I see it again, I'll ask the owner if I see them. In the meantime, I'm going to hit up Google. Sounds interesting.

You can't plasti-dip it , it would just burn off. But you could clean it up real good and paint it with high temp paint.

That's what I was thinking, and probably what I would do.
They make paint for exhaust manifolds, surely you could use it on the exhaust tips too.
I need to buy my tips still before I cross this bridge though LoL
I swear, my mod to-do list never shrinks!

I only have single exhaust but I made a stainless steel diamond plate tip for it and I think I am gonna try painting it to see how it looks.

theoretically I would also think that plasti dip would melt off. Has anyone ever tried this and seen first hand though? I would be interested to know.
