Default New Tires for my 3rd Gen

Hey All,

I need to purchase a set of new tires for my truck and am currectly running 35x12.5x17, which are a hard ratio to find. I've been having much better luck looking for 315x70x17, which are only a fraction of an inch shorter.

As most of you know, once you get to around the 35in or larger tire the price increases fairly significantly. I'm really looking for a quality tire for a price this isn't going to hurt the wallet too much, as I'm on the market for a house.

I found the Kumho Road Venture MTs for a decent price.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Like them? or does anyone else have any recommendations on similar size tires under $1k?

Looking for everyone's $.02

No experience with those, but I really like my Goodyear Wrangler Authority's. They have their own set of pro's and con's. So far, have only found the pro's.

I currently have Dunlop Mud Rovers, but they've seen better days and need to be replaced. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of them. They have a mean center tread but the walls don't have much to them. I'm looking for something a bit more aggressive looking.

Terra Grapplers and BFG AT KOs can most likely be had cheaper

At one time my choice was narrowed down to the Nitto's and Coopers. Almost every tire I looked at offered a 35x12.5/17 tire. They are out there. The metric sizes aren't a step down, by any means. You won't even notice the difference. I don't know the exact diameter of the 35" tire, but I know that the 33x12.5/17 Pro Comp's I had on my truck were actually 32.4", I believe, and the metric tires I replaced them with are a 32.8" diameter. Like the advertised engine CC's on a motorcycle, the advertised diameter is usually a bit smaller than actually measured.

Heard that Federal m/ts are pretty good too, rode in one my buddy's truck before and he runs them.

No experience with Kumho LT tires. My next set is going on a new set of 17" rims and will be Nitto Terra Grapplers. Kumho seems to make a decent tire for the price, but they don't last as long. I had a set on my daughter's old car. They rode good, handled good, but wore out way too quick for my wallet.

I don't know how the hell you are having a hard time finding a 35x12.5x17 tire, EVERY serious all-terrain/mud-terrain tire manufacturer offers that size...
