do yourself a favor and dont get yourself in a bunch of debt at the age of 16. Unless you're rich. Especially when it comes to a 9 year old truck with alot of miles. I bought an 03 5.7 reg cab short bed for 9k tax/title, and extended warranty included. truck had 77k miles when i bought it.
just pay the bills, i bought my 02 with 5.9l QC 96k miles last year right for 10,900 at 16 years old, put down 900 bucks, had my dad cosign. Currently have 6300 left to pay. Its smart. these trucks last years, theres 5.9s out there with 200k+ miles even one of our 3rd geners with one is in the 200k club. All im doing and he could be doing is headstarting life. I wont have a truck payment to make at the same tame my college bills start coming, ive built my credit by making every payment on time. And when your the one paying the bills mom and dad cant take your keys when you stay out too late lol. so OP find a nice truck, carfax it, check out the truck ask any friends you have as mechanics to check it out with you. get a good rate. mine is 12.59 apr which is astronomical but its on a 3 year loan at about 360 a month plus my insurance. GOOD LUCK and Plan it out, make sure you can make payments.
I agree with nate, if you're in a position to do it, building a little credit at 16 is not a bad thing. But, I bet not many 16 yr olds can take on a 10k loan and pay it off by the time they are in college. As with most situations in life, there are shades of grey, just pick the one that suits you best.
I paid 10g's for a 02 slt with 99k then 9 days later the trans took a ****. Then it sat for a bit cause I was ignent/too poor to fix it. I got suckered yo. Really bad. 360's are good for 300k+ miles. Seen a couple with almost 400k, but the rest of the truck rusted around the motor.

2003 was a crossover year, first half of the year you could get a 5.9 (360) gas. Then the 5.7 was introduced mid-year. It was also the only year you could get the old 8 liter iron V-10 in a 3rd gen.

I knew about it being a half year, But the Thread is for 03s which is dumb because there is already a High Milage survey, the post he made was about an 02

Hi, I am looking to buy my first truck i am 16, i am looking at a 2003 with 113,000 miles on it for 10,000. What is a good price to pay and how many more miles could I get on it? It is a 4x4 and a quadcab.

No, the post he made was about a 2003, (reread title & first post). If you KNEW it was a crossover year that featured both engines, then why did you ask, "I thought we were talking about 03 that didnt offer the 5.9 "?
