Thinking of swapping just my stock muffler on my 06 5.7 Ram for a Magnaflow universal fit muffler.
Anyone ever tried this? I am planning on leaving the resonator in the tailpipe.

And how do you think this muffler will sound?

 

The 22" you want will sound almost like stock especially with the for and aft resonators left in.
I had an 18" center in / offset out (#14359) installed and left both resonators in and now being about 5000k old it sounds nice at cruising speeds (almost no drone)and fairly loud @WOT. The shorter you go the more sound you'll get.

 

What about leaving the fore resonator out with this muffler?

 

Yeah, it will definitely be louder but in the cabin you might experience the dreaded droan when MDS kicks in. Magnaflows gradually get louder with age,so its your preference.
I eventually will get rid of the tail pipe w/the resonator all together and have it dump out in front of the right rear but right now I paired my exhaust with a 4" home brew CAI and its plenty loud believe me.
