Exhaust exit before rear wheels?
Tried a search and did not find anything.
Getting ready to have the exhaust done on my truck. Stock exhaust has held up well for over 100k but i am ready for an upgrade. Luckily we have a chain of custom exhaust shops in this area who do great work for very reasonable prices. And as information. This is my daily driver. I do not race, off road or anything like that. Reliability and comfort is key.
Here are my questions and concerns....
I have MDS and do not want to disable it. But i want to avoid the "Underwater Helicopter sound" as much as possible. The guy at the shop said i should avoid the two chamber mufflers for this reason. He reccomended a 4 chamber muffler that according to him will deaden a good deal of that sound but still flow well and sound good.
My choices are:
1. Single passenger side 3" to the rear.
2. Dual 3" to both sides rear.
3. Dual 3" out the passenger side before the rear wheel.
I am kind of leaning towards #3 because of how simple the system will be. It's not even a cost issue, because he said it would be the same price as a single 3" out one side of the rear. I am just thinking it's a little different and might look and sound really good. BUT, are their any issues with this setup?

Should have some good space under there to work with so dont see why not.
I ran si/do catback with tips exit before the pass rear tire and no issues stock or w/ 4/6.
Performance wise - Depending on supporting mods you have to compliment 3" duals you may see a loss on the low.

Cheaper to cut y pipe, run two individual mufflers side by side ( up and down) and run two pipes out before the rear tire, running pipe over the rear diff and arround the spare tire is not creating the best balance of flow for cost, or run a cat back with two ex out lets if your worried abought cutting the y pipe.
Only issues with my conversion is I can't keep muflers ( dynomaxultra flow is garbage)

Here's one on a member's truck I've done a ton of work on. Cherry Bomb Extreme out the side to dual Gibson tips. Ain't seen this sucker post in over a year now, dunno if he still has the truck or not...

I just did mine yesterday!
Had a magnaflow for about 5 months and wanted a little more growl so I eliminated the rear resonator and tail pipe and gave it this custom look.
Sounds nice now and costs way less than if I bought a complete catback system.
