Ha well I don't really want to go buy a new car. I didn't know if there were other things I could do to it to make it more efficient. Going 60 yesterday, in a 70 mind you, for about 2 hours, I pulled 18 mpg out of the thing so from what you guys are telling me, I have pretty much done what I can. I love the truck to death and don't plan on getting rid of it any time soon. I only have 77k miles on it so I'm hoping it will last me much longer. Now as far as mufflers go, I want to throw something on it. I had a 93 dodge dakota as my first truck, with the 318 in it, and I had glass packs on it but I do not want anything that loud or poppy. I want something with a deep low grumble to it but still somewhat loud. Any suggestions? Was looking at flowmaster or magnaflow.

F*ck going Flowmaster, it's a chambered muffler and you'll end up giving back some of the MPGs you've worked so hard for.

Maggy's are great, as would be a Borla or a Cherry Bomb.

Remember, better flow means better power and better fuel economy. I have a list of a lot of popular mufflers and their flow rates in the FAQ section...

I vote Magnaflow!
I just had one installed on my 02' 5.9 and it sounds great. I went with the 24" at my local muffler shops' suggestion. It has a nice low rumble at idle and low rpm but when you get on it, it sounds mean but still not too loud.

Oh and as for gas mileage...........I average 12mpg I'll take your 14 any day. But I will admit I have been on the skinny pedal a bit more since the Magnaflow install. It just sounds so cool.

14 MPG is awesome for a 5.9, I had a 5.2 for three years and I averaged 12. I got 8 to 10 in city and 15 to 17 (mostly 15) on a flat dead highway when the stars were in perfect alighment...

My uncle has 98' 5.9 and get about 12 on the highway.

Your doing good with 14 if you ask me. I also have a 02 Ram 1500 quad cab 5.9 4x4 and I only get 10.7mph, I'm also a very aggressive driver
