Mega hemi programmer worth it?
I have a lifted mega cab 1500 hemi 4x4. Anyone using a programmer really think they're worth it. I'm not trying to go faster or anything like that. Maybe a ill more fuel efficient and maybe adjust the tire size to the speedometer. What can I expect with a programmer. What do you guys use em for. Which brand have what options. Whose do you guys like. Trying to do some research before I buy. Most other threads are about shift points. I never even tow so it's mostly driving around town
It looks like you have a 2006, so you can go sc3865 or a diblosport intune, which is what I have. MPG imrovement and a nice increase in power. With the intune you can have a custom tune later installed if you decide to mod the engine and really get the most out of your improvements. The abilty to speedo correct and boost MPG is worth it alone, then you add 20HP, data logging, and adjustabilty...
I have the 3865 with the adv. tranny tune and I love it. I don't do any towing either but I love having the adv. tranny tune so I can customize my shift points. I also do quite a bit of city driving and with the shift schedule I have your truck isn't always shifting and or trying to shift. I guess what it reminds me of is, before when I would drive around with my tranny in the tow/haul mode, only alot better.

It's also WAY more expensive. You can find used 3865s and 3815s all day on these forums for around 200. I paid 225
I have an older 3815 that I used on my 4.7L 1500 before, and now on the 2500 5.7L hemi megacab (almost the same truck as yours). With factory 4:10 gears, I get 9.5mpg around the city (short hops, up and down 1000ft climb). On the hwy 14 or so, 10 when towing. I use the tow tune, doesn't add power but does give 1 or 2 mpg hwy. Currently I am trying the 87 octane tune, so I can use the cheaper fuel. So far on the first tank I lost .5mpg city and hwy compared to the tow tune. I don't accelerate hard though, that kills the mpg and you can't recover from that.
