Mpg drop after 4.56???
Personally think you should drive it more than 20 miles (at the time of your OP) before really assessing on how the gears are working out for you. Cant help with MPG since i dont calculate mine.
Great mod imo.

like u said have to wait for break-in and see, as far for the tires the 315/70-17 will help right?.
Hammer's quote of the day:
I only have three emotions - Horny, Hungry & Hatred. If I don't have an erection, then you best be making me a sandwich...
That is a good one!!
As far as MPGs go, yeah since it should get your RPMs down considerably, but from a performance standpoint, the smaller the tire, the better the hole-shot.
If you're not seeing snap your neck back results now, something ain't right. Even on 35s it's hard to even tap the gas lightly without a perceptible snap forward when starting to go.
Out of curiosity, what RPMs are you seeing at speeds? I was down around 1600 at 70 MPH with the 35s with 3.92s and I'm up around 2100 with the 4.56s which is pretty much right in the powerband the Hemi seems to like.
With 31 1/2" tires your RPMs should be stupid high at any decent speed. Of course with a manual transmission it's apples to oranges, you may need to adjust your shifting to the numerically higher gearing...

what u mean shifting to the numerically higher gearing...???

Shift points are a constant with the 545rfe, but with a manual you are deciding when to upshift. I'm saying you may have to play around with where you are shifting.
Interestingly, I can't find a soul with a Hemi or 4.7 and manual tranny who re-geared among all the guys I know who re-geared. Can find a few CTD guys who went 4.56 with a manual tranny, but these guys all did it for running big honkin' meats. So I have no point of reference - you sir, may be the proverbial guinea pig.
But again, this is all pre-mature. You'll have a better idea after break-in when you can drive it like you stole it. Plus you already know you are at less than ideal gearing with your tire size. After getting the tires you intended to get when you decided to re-gear I'd suspect all will be right with the world...
