315's or 325's?

Default 315's or 325's?

have a stock 06 megacab 4x4, and shopping for new tires. Was gonna go with new rims, but i dont mind the stock ones.

I'm down to either 315/70/r17 or 325/70/r17 from what ive read, the only problem with the 325's is a bit of rubbing at full lock, but wanted to get a few more opinions.

My buddy works a tirecraft and can get the 325 toyos a lot cheaper then the 315s so it'd be best, but id prefer not to have to get a levelling kit

I think you would need a level even for 315's. I put 305's on but leveled it first.

Ok, this is Fact, since I have an 06 4x4 Mega cab. 315's rubbed ( not only rubbed, but grinded ) at full lock with stock wheels. I have a Laramie with the 17' aluminum wheels. I then put 2.5" leveling kit AND 17" Dick Cepeck wheels w/ 4.5" backspacing, voila, they have never rubbed since, and I used the hell out of this beast.

Arctodus backs up what I was thinking. There is a tire fitment thread sticky in the tech forum Matt, have you read it?

I don't have a lift kit, but I have a level with 4.5" backspaced, -12mm offset rims, and 315's are probably as big as I would have gone, even with that setup. I don't think they are going to work at stock height on stock rims.

Ive got 325s but Im also lifted 12" and my rims are +18mm offset if I remember correctly

I have 315/70/17 on my 04 2500. No lift. They rub ALOT at full lockout. Fortunatley Dodge trucks turn alot sharper than my former crap 08' GM so it rarely hits full lock out.

you also have a 2wd as well. more room up front than 4wd.


325's are too wide for the stock width rim. it'll balloon the center up. You really need a minimum of a 9" wheel for 325's. Not saying they won't install and inflate, but they aren't reccomended by any manufacturer. 315's are a bit wide for the stock 17" wheels too but are do-able.

I agree. Read Wheel/Tire Sticky on Tech page.
