The only real down side I see with Plasti Dip is that if it does chip you essentially have to peel alot of it off in order to reapply it with the same look as the rest of it. Or so I've heard. I'm a fan of it and I'm not trying to talk you out of it at all. I'm just saying there are options out there now

Plasti-dip is the way to go. Home Depot, Lowes has it.
People have used bed liner spray (chip resistant) but that leaves a more textured finish and is harder to work with.
Just remember 3-4 lite coats letting each coat tack up is better than 1 thick coat.
On another note: I've been toying with the idea of 3m carbon fiber in black for the cross-hairs in the grill totally reversible as opposed to paint.
I did it above my rear sliding window because of fading and it came out pretty good. I also made some hood spears and lids with it.

I don't trust plastidip at all for big projects. Before my truck was too tall and had cb antennas and I could fit in a car wash, it peeled part of the plastidip off my 4x4 emblem. Use a bedliner spray can, I used it on my rear bumper and it looks great. The brand is called plastikote I got it at carquest. I sanded first with 80 grit (I think) sandpaper. With bedliner sanding ain't to important cuz I got bored after 5 minutes and started spraying lol
