Why are you trying to eraser wheel the areas that the paint is gone; are you talking about a scratch or actually paint that is peeling off? I assume where ever the paint got pulled away, the glue is what pulled it off so there shouldn't be much residue left.
It pains me to say this but I'm talking chipped down to the metal. They are small scratch sized but down to the metal. The flat head I was using ripped out of the cloth a few times and did it's damage. I assume that getting a small bottle of touch up paint and primer is what I need, since it's down to the metal. I'll have a lid covering the bed eventually but I don't want those scratches to be there. It bothers me!

Thank you

Honestly id just get some touchup paint and some clear, hell you could even use some clear from a finger nail paint and use it. The goal is just to make sure its sealed and isn't going to rust.

Your going to see where its been painted or touched up regardless unless you just have it repainted correctly which obviously your probably not going to pay to have all that done for some scratches that are going to be covered up.

So if I was you id just do what I mentioned above just so it doesn't rust and atleast looks alittle better, put the new top over it and be done. If they aren't to far down the rail you could just have a spray in bedliner done and over the rails like most do so it will not only protect it but will look good if the scratches bother you that much knowing they are there!
