'08 4.7 1500 Manual vs '04-'08 Hemi 2500 Manual
Alright guys, I'm normally a second gen guy, but I'm starting to get my eye on something new in my future and thought I'd stop by and ask you all a couple questions.
My dad has an '08 4.7l 4x4 with the Getrag 6spd and I love it. Get's 19mpg regularly, even more with straight highway, fun to drive, great truck.
The only thing that bothers me is the terrible towing rating. 4100 lbs? That's terrible. I regualarly tow a good chunk of weight, not over 5k but sometimes around there. All stuff I tow with my '01 with the 360 and the auto
Now I know the towing ratings have lots of liability b.s. too, so what would the real-world towing capacity be on one, I mean it's only 45hp short of the Hemi, and it's rated at 9k. Does the manually really drop you that much or is the 4.7 just not that powerful??
So I got to thinking, what about a 2500 with the hemi and a 6spd? how many MPG's would I be giving up for that to have a little more ability towing/hauling wise?
Other thing is price, I saw an '08 4.7 Big Horn QCSB 4x4, only 50k miles for just 14k the other day!!! Could I get a 2500 for that cheap??
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get a good idea what I'm looking at.
Thanks guys!!

you could be like the minority of us and have an 3rd gen with the 360
only the 02,03 models tho, you proboably dont want to go through the hassle of a 1 year newer truck just for styling purposes, btw i get like 13 avg mpg and im a 17 year old with a lead foot.
