Would it hurt the 4 wheel drive unit in my truck if I drove it a couple miles with the rear spider gears out to get it to a garage?

Who knows.. It could work or it could all blow apart.. Ive seen guys use the 4x4 to drive for miles to get somewhere.. Me myself tried it once and the whole front end blew apart within half a mile.. I recommend not doing it

 

If the rear gears are shot, I wouldnt drive it. But have you pulled the diff cover and personally inspected them?
