I'm working towards converting all interior lights to blue LEDs, and so far this is where I'm at aside from dome and map lights.

I'm still working on sourcing the SMD LED's used for the mirror adjustment lights but when I find them they will also be replaced.

I'm not completely done yet, but she's gonna look badass when I'm done.

I'll post up a DIY later when it's more complete but unless upo have one of these $4000 re-work stations it's going to be hard.... I already messed up one switch panel



This bad boy sucks the solder out through the iron itself, desoldering without this took me 3 hours, it took me 30 mins with this device.

has anyone else done this?? I haven't seen the switches done yet, and I'm working on a FULL conversion to blue lights, with UV emanating from the vents.

when I finally get the full conversion done, If I get the inclination, I may even go so far as to put blue and red LEDs in the vents, controlled via microcontroller to fade blue-to-red and vice versa, depending on how hot or cold the air is coming out of the vents

Mine doesn't appear to have lights in any other door switches. or maybe they're dead or something....I'll have to look.

Either way I'll be doing anything that lights up. including the little indicator lights on the climate controls, and the fog light LED.

I'm still searching for the SMDs though, as soon as I find some I'll be set to finish it all up. I'm also going to have to put some paint or something on the "AUTO" switch. As you can see it seems to have faded and allows a lot of light through the switch body itself.

 

Props on the switches, I took mine apart and gave up, EVERY other light in mines blue tho

 

Get those small SMD LEDs too hot and they will burn up so be careful with the iron. We do the same thing for changing the 4 ring LEDs out on Xbox controllers

 

If I can find the SMDs at a place where I can have them before I finish school, then I can use that re-work station to solder them on.

It uses hot air for SMD's, just blow 800* air on the solder and they flow right into place perfectly.

I'm honestly not sure I can do those with an iron.
