sylvania ZXE headlight bulbs
I put them in my truck a few weeks ago, much brighter than stock. I really like them, they are a very white light though. I can't compare them to any other aftermarket bulbs as I have only ran stock bulbs up til now. Also have a look at some of these. while doing some quick research I was pointed to that site, apparently there are some good alternatives there
Most of those bulbs are overdrawn. Meaning they use a lower resitive element to allow more current to pass through the bulb. This results in a higher wattage bulb. This also means less bulb life and requiring a higher demand on stock wiring.
Just becareful about certain bulbs as they can melt wiring harnesses.
Also, with newer 2006+ Rams equip with TIPM's, this can cause your headlamp circuit to peremanently shut down causing the need for a whole new TIPM module which runs $600-800. It's what Chrysler calls "safety protection". I call it stealing from consumers wallets becauses theres no reason to permanently shut down the circuit. Dealers should be able to re-enable it, but they cannot.
In short, just becareful on some brands. I had Silverstars(not the Ultras because are just too blue for my likings) in my Rm for a few months no problems.
