Default need some advice

okay here's my situation I have a 2008 4 door Wrangler with a 3" lift up on 35's. I don't want a vehicle but my wife wants my Wrangler so now I'm looking for a newer used truck. Of the ones I've seen I like the Dodge's the best for appearance. I want to stay in the 3rd generation because I don't want to pay the money for the fourth and I don't want a second because they're too old. I'm also looking for a truck hopefully below 100,000 miles. I realize this is the dodge forum and it might be biased, but I was wondering if you guys could help me out on what to look for and how reliable they are. I'm looking for a 4 door 5.7 hemi. From what I've read, the 03 04 I should stay away from is that correct? Thanks for your help in advance

2005 was the best of the 3rd gens, most tunable. I'm partial to the 2005 2500, because I own one.

I have had some repairs, but not more then expected

Yea 05 is the "peak" if you want to call it that. Nothing wrong with the 06-08s either just depends what you like

i have an 04 4x4, no problems(knock on wood) i know the 03's and some early 04's had some lifter or valve issues(not sure what one) but my 04 is running like a champ. i personally like the looks of the 03-05's vs the 06-08's

Thanks for the reply guys. Pretty much I think I want the hemi but I'm not dead set on it but just a little bit nervous on the knocking issue I've been reading about depending on what octane of feel used but I see those arguments on both sides of that. I'm not the most experienced engine guy but I suppose I'll be able to hear any issues with the engine while test driving them. Thanks again

If you're gonna get a Ram the Hemi is the best way to go. Same MPG as the 4.7 but over 100 HP more stock plus alot more aftermarket available for the Hemi. As for the fuel thing I won't really comment because it is 2 sided but I have a tuner with the 91 performance tune so i have to use 93 anyways
