Not your typical MPG thread
So on my 10 hour drive back from the U.P. of Michigan the other day I got a little bored. Reset the trip as I went past a mile marker and began watching. What I found was that for about every 10 mile markers the trip was about .2 miles short (10 mile markers = 9.8 miles on the trip). So after 50 mile markers my trip was 1 mile short.
Now, my speedometer and GPS match up exactly so I don't think that's an issue. I don't have a lot of faith in the mile markers being exact, but the fact that it was pretty consist makes me think the odometer might be a little off.
I guess this doesn't hurt anything and only makes my odometer show fewer miles and my hand calculated MPG a little lower. Just curious if anyone else has noticed this?

Haven't gotten that bored yet.
Looks like evidence of another government conspiracy to keep the little man down to me.
I did notice, however, that my paycheck was short about .2 for every 10 dollars I make, compared to last year. LOL

Mile markers are inexact and are only used for reference points for EMS and Police to pinpoint locations.
I'm not sure what the acceptable error limit is but I assume that they are well within the range.
If your GPS matches your Trip Meter and the Odometer then you're fine.
