I am in the market for a Ram 2500 diesel and my price range dictates looking at 2005-2009. Everything I am looking at seems to be in the 200000km range(120000miles) Is there something special about this mileage i.e. is there some problem that crops up at that mileage or some MAJOR service issue. What issues might I be looking at in truck with those miles. We will be towing a horse trailer short distances( 20-50 miles) fairly frequently and long distances perhaps once or twice arly(1000-1500 miles),Everything in between will be without a trailer.

Well most say that a diesel isn't broken in until 100k so it should be in it's prime unless it's been abused. Personally I would stay away from modded diesels. Yes modding it on your own will be more expensive probably but it usually means its been run pretty hard whether on pavement or off road

Stay with the 2005 through the 2007's. Those are the last years of the 5.9's which is a great motor. The 6.7 they replaced it with might be built good now but was a boat anchor when it came out in 08.

2005's still have the FCM instead of the TIPM, which removes all the fuses and relays.
If it dies, you need the whole front end computer, instead of a $20 relay
