Default bully dog programmer

I can get a bully dog programmer for 200 bucks do you think it is worth it for my 08 hemi? I like the bully dog over the superchips because it mounts to my dash so thats why im considering it if its a decent tuner.

Good question. I don't think alot of guys are running the Bully Dog unit yet. I see they are getting featured on Spike TV today.

I say go for it and report back!

This is a little quote from my 89 yr old Dad. He always told me, Son, if you go to a steak house, don't order seafood. The motto being always use the expertise of the restaurant you're using. In your case, Bully Dog is a reputable company that made their reputation tuning diesels, so I for one would go with a tuner company that has a good reputation with gasoline engines. No one really knows how good Bully Dog tuners for gas cars and trucks are yet. Until we find out through word of mouth from some reputable members of our forum, I'd stick with S/C or Diablosport. Just my opinion, and yes I know all about opinions

^^^ Agreed. Everyone wants to buy the BullyDog, Edge and Banks stuff because they hear it's good on the diesels. But diesels are much different beast then gas engines and when you put all your R&D into diesel tuning I highly doubt you're gonna focus too much on the gas side of things. You're paying for the brand name most likely, especially if that tuner new is 600 when you can get a brand new SuperChips who focuses on gas engines for half the price.

ya i agree with you guys also it just sounded like a good deal if i could get it for like 150-175. I also like the bullydog a lot because it has the dash mount. My buddy got a bullydog for free for his 08 4.7 and he said he saw a big difference in power and in gas mileage so it got me thinking but i ended up not doing it for now

I mean true be told. Most tuners are like CAIs. They come in a lot of different brands and price points but they all do basically the same thing. But on the flip side the 4.7 is pretty detuned from the factory so tuners really wake up those engines regardless. For the price I don't think you would be disappointed with the BullyDog. I just wouldn't buy one brand new.

Ya i dont think I would buy any tuner brand new because theres used ones all over. Do you guys know of any of brands besides the edge and bully dog that have a dash mount? If im gonna get a tuner I want it to have a dash mount like the diesel ones lol

Default Bully vs. Edge

FYI I just pulled the Bully Dog tuner I had in my truck out and returned it. It was total crap, wouldn't download updates properly, wouldn't upload properly, wasn't tuning properly, the screen kept freezing. At one point the pyrometer told me that my turbo intake was 7254 degrees....Celsius!!! So I returned it and got an Edge instead. I know NOTHING about engines, and I'm horrible at following directions. I had that thing installed in 2 hours and I wasn't really trying to go fast. I plugged it in, turned it on, and BOOM.....right outta the gate it's working.
That was just MY experience, I'd do more research if I was to do it all over again...
I liked how easy it was to instal, I have the pillar mount with mine and quite like it. It's easy to use and understand. Way more options. My advice, put all the tuners side by side and see which one has the most options you'd use, and get the most out of....good luck
