9.25 trac loc / what should i ask for it?
I just picked up a 9.25 trac loc 355 gears with 28000 miles on it to replace the current one in my truck.
My current one is making a low hum under load between 30 and 60 mph. No shavings or matalic in the fluid. The complete ring and pinion and carrier was replaced at the dealership at 38K. Since it has always made a little noise, it now has 121k.
I am trying to recoup some of the cost and was wondering what I should ask for the complete rear differential including axles?
I only found 4 in the state when I was looking and the wrecking yards were asking between $1000 and $1200 with 80k to 120k.
It is out of a 2004 1500 4x4 quad cab.

I was just looking at replacements for mine, which I rebuilt instead. I found 3 or 4 used ones in the $800-1000 price that included a 3 year replacement warrantee. $1000 would be a fair asking price.
When I could buy a complete new one for $1600 with 3.92 gears at most supply places, how is there even a market for the used stuff?
