ill start by saying i have done my research. iv looked at the guide that is on here and a couple of other threads on here and have gotten two different answers.
the guide that everyone goes by on here says 17x8.5 but many other places say 17x9.

i know its just a half inch but this all changes my choice in new tires.
if someone could clear that up for me it would be greatly appreciated.

 

its an 04 ram 1500 st.
quad cab, short bed, 4x4

 

17x8 wheels on mine and the specs are listed as the same for 4x4's with either the 245/70R17 or 265/70R17. Not sure why it would call for anything wider for stock.
