Default Step bars with a body lift?

I'm looking to order step bars for my truck but I was thinking- if they mount to the frame and you have a body lift wouldn't the step be 3" lower than intended?

Not that I can't get in with that 3" difference but the main reason I want step bars is to hide the frame hanging underneath from the body lift.

Could I just mount the bars on top of the body mount spacer assuming that is where these things mount?

thanks

Most aftermarket and factory steps mount to the body.
