Default Thinking about ditching the 20x9s

Hey guys I run a 305-55-r20 bfg a/t on my factory 20s. My treads got about 70% life left until I noticed I had a slow air leak. Went to the tire shop dismounted the tire off the rim and would u look at that tires cracking from the inside out. The tire split and started leaking air. Im pissssed. I always keep my tires properly inflated.

Was just wondering if any of you guys noticed any gains in mpgs by ditching the heavy 20x9 and downsizing to say a 18x9? I still want to run a tire with a OD of around 33"

I ditched my 20's and went with 17's but I went up to 34's (305/70/17) from the 33's. I haven't really noticed a change either way as far as MPG.

I went from 33's on 20's to 35's on 17's.

Go with 35's on 17's

Just be aware of proper wheel offset, etc. if you go bigger on the tires
