Question Trying to decide if I should sell my truck

I currently have a:
2006 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Lone Star Quad Cab
HEMI, 214,000 miles. NADA says I might get $7,500 private party or $5,000 trade in. What inclines me to get out of it is the power steering pump seems to be going out, no fluid leaking, just can be hard to turn at when parking...sometimes. When the truck is cold & I shift into D & press the gas,the truck doesn't move as much as it should, once I get going it shifts as usual. When I was at 100,000 miles I got new heads courtesy of overheating (oops) since then I have had no major issues. Just got new tires 4,000 miles ago.

I would prefer to sell this & buy something maybe older with lower miles (for $3-8k) but am also considering getting something newer ($8-16k). I need a truck with at least this size motor & am also considering diesels. I drive about 3-4k miles/month & haul 500-1500lbs (would be nice to be abale to put 2-3klbs) a few times a month in the bed, pull a two horse trailer every other month or so at least 100 miles if not 400.

Dodge/truck experts what say ye? Should I keep the Silver Bullet or sell her while she is still going strong? I am not opposed to keeping her for another 8 years. Weighing the options here.

I would be a bit surprised if you could actually get 7,500 for it, but maybe in Texas I suppose, idk. Power steering pump is not a hugely hard part to replace. When was the last time your transmission fluid was changed? That could help out your shifting issues if its been a while. Depends how happy you are with your current truck really and how much $ you want to spend. I would love to get a diesel, and it seems like you could almost justify it, but then you've got the extra $ up front and in maintenance. With 214,000 you never know what could go wrong either, so cashing out while you can wouldnt be a bad idea. On the other hand, a "new" used truck has it's own set of issues which you generally aren't privy too, so you may end up dropping more money into a new used truck than the one you currently have. Personally, i'd upgrade to a 4th gen, not a diesel, seems like a good option if you can get 5-7K for your current truck.
