Default Truck is not recommended for slide in campers.

I have a 2007 Dodge Ram SLT 4x4 Quad Cab Pickup. Body Style DH7H42.
After researching the recommendation by Dodge for slide in campers- I find that Dodge does not recommend this truck model . WHY? And what would happen if a person put a camper in? What exactly does the "not recommended entail". Non coverage of insurance in a wreck? It has a 5.9L 16Cummins TD. Does this mean I need to get a 5th wheel or tow trailer? I have an email into Dodge- but would sure appreciate some feed back from people who have used truck campers. Thanks.

Got the word back from Dodge Body Builders. Too much weight for the front suspension. No modifications acceptable. Not the answer I was wanting.

I'm a little confused by your post....

Do You have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500? or a Dodge Ram 2500?

I'm assuming it's a 2500 b/c you said you have the 5.9L Cummins Diesel Engine.

The type of campers you're considering are better suited for 3500 Duallies... and even then it's "not recommended"....

Thank you for your reply- you are correct. It is a 2500.

I have a 2005 2500 hemi QC s/B and hauled an 11'5" truck camper. I added airbags to the rear and fabricated a bracket off the receiver hitch to support rear of camper past the tailgate. Used the camper to do beach camping which entailed driving across sand dunes and down beach. Never had any issues with front suspension or weight at all. Truck rode better down the beach with weight in bed.

Evidently, it doesn't matter which truck you own, slide in campers are the devil. Friend of mine with a Ford Dually bought one and was told the first time it went to the dealer for normal maintenance work that he voided his warranty on the truck...
