Default Touch Up Paint and Rust Prevent?

I have a few nicks and deep scratches where only metal is showing on my 04 ram 2500. I bought the necessary touch up paint for it.

However, for a few of the deep nicks the rust color is starting to show. Should I apply some kind of rust prevent before applying the touch up paint. Maybe apply por 15 then paint on top of that.

Figured I would get the expert opinions of others on here so I know what I am doing. Right now I was looking at buying the por 15 and the touch up paint by scratch wizard off of amazon. Not sure what others have done and used on their trucks. Thanks.

I just wiped all areas with alcohol and applied the touchup paint. Depending on the depth of the spot, it will take a few coats of touchup to fill in.

For light scratches, touch up paint is enough. And for deep nicks and if rust is starting to show, I would use a rust pevent.
