Default 2003 dodge ram 1500 5.7 Questions.

I am currently looking at a 2003 dodge ram 1500 5.7 with 109k on it the person says it has a bad engine i plan to rebuild it. I am just wondering is there any major problems with these engines/trucks that i should know about?. I currently have a dodge Dakota with a 4.7 engine and it has a noisy engine because of the timing chain tensions and hydraulic lifters and all that crap do the 5.7s have any big problems like the 4.7s did?

Not sure if it's the same engine but my father-in-law had a 5.7 hemi in a '06 charger and his valve seats dropped and destroyed the engine (his got back in the intake too). Once he got into searching the internet he found a lot of people had the problem once the engine got above 75k miles.

I have an '03 Ram 1500 with electrical problems (headlights mostly), problem cropped up around 175k miles, truck originally from Georgia. The FCM &/or PDC are known weak points and they commonly corrode. If you search for dodge ram FCM you'll find plenty of people that have had issues on 3rd Gens.

I have an 03 Ram at 150,000 miles with the original valvesprings and I don't exactly baby it. I also have an 06 Charger R/T with over 150,000 miles, definitely don't baby that.
