I wish the rear diff retaining nut recall was for the 2002 also. Been having a whinning noise for a few days but could not pinpoit it. Today I took my mechanic out and of course the noise didn't happen. He said eventually it will get worse and it did. Driving about 40 miles an hours and noise got louder.The truck jerked 2 times and watched as rear shaft fell out from truck on a 3 lane highway and rear end locked up. i had to put in 4 wheel and drag rear wheel to get truck off highway. All in all nobody got hit by shaft. Nut backed out need new rear drive shaft and internals of rear, pinion gear broke.
