Unable to find answer, 1. If no air gets into system the abs valve will NOT need to be bled?
2. Will the engine need to be running for the power brake system or should the engine be off?

If you can get someone help, it makes it easier but I do it by myself all the time. Get some plastic tubing that will fit snug on the bleeder valve. You want enough to reach the catch container but also enough that it can loop up a bit. This will let the air bubble up without getting sucked back in. It will eventually go out the end. Pour a little clean fluid into the catch container so no air sucks back and you can tell by the color when the old fluid is getting through. A helper can make sure the bubbles are coming out and hold the hose steady. Obviously check the master cylinder from time to time and make sure it always has fluid. I have an '02 so I have the same master cylinder and it has a lot of volume so that will help.
Now, if you can find a speed bleeder that fits, use one of those. Speed bleeders look like a bleeder valve and you can use them as one but they have a one way valve so you just put a catch tube and pump away. Once your done, you can put the original one back or leave it in the system. Due to cost, I put the originals back. Also, if the bleeder valve breaks off when you try to bleed it, replace the caliper. It's rusted inside and will soon be sticking. I'll rebuild a wheel cylinder, especially on really old stuff. Calipers it's just more feasible to replace.
