Cool Leveling Kit Review

Hey Everyone, I had read threads upon threads about reviews on leveling Kits. I was really concerned about keeping or improving ride quality after install. So I came to the conclusion that The Fat Bob's Garage was what I was going to purchase.

Part 1: Install. I was kind of concerned about the level of difficulty. There was a call for spring compression tools and such. I was actually surprised on how easy it was though. The hardest part was actually the awkward angle that you had securing the new shocks in the set. Other then that, it was not very bad. Total install took me 4 hours taking my time.

Part 2: Quality of provided parts. The biggest question I had about this specific kit was The quality of the provided shocks. My conclusion is that they are way better then stock. I opted for the upgraded ProComp ES9000 Shocks. They defintily carry the truck alot nicer then the crappy stock shocks. The Spacers were also very very well built.

Part 3: Look. The Leveling kit was rated to lift the front end up 2 1/2". I measured before and after, and it actually lifted it up 3" after settling in. Doing so caused it to sit perfectly level. Over all I am very very satisfied with the results. And of course I took some Pics with my phone during install.

Great pics. Take some pics of your UCA BJs with the tires on the ground. As they look now there is a lot of angle on them but I know that is because there is no weight on them to push them up.

Those look like Daystar 2.5" spacers.

Glad you got it all put together. Did you get an alignment yet?

i was going to do mine when i did my ball joints, but i just found out that the 2WD does not have replacable ball joints; on 2WD you have to replace the whole upper A arm at $200 a pop.

The big brown truck has my 2" spacers from Fat Bobs. Should be here in a few hours. Was going to put them on today, but the weather is dictating otherwise.

Yeah, It worked out really really well. I have a really good friend of mine who owns an auto and muffler shop, he let me work on it there while my garage is under maintenance (new drywall and floor sealant if curious) but basically I was originally going to do it on a lift, but I got it up there, and realized that I am going to have to do it on the ground to prevent control arm damage. So I did it on the ground, then rolled it right up on his alignment rack and did it right then and there. Install instructions where pretty good. There is a really good you tube video up that explains generally how to do it. (cant seem to find it) but I watched that, got an idea what I was looking out for, then it was just pretty basic from there. I am extremely happy with the ride and stance. (Bonus of friend owning his own computer alignment machine, free alignments)
