CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL???
Got a question about the Cummins Turbo Diesel trucks.
It appears that the gas prices are on there way up again, Does CTD trucks get better gas mileage, than a typical gas operated truck? Do you get more horsepower with a CTD? Is there more, or less up keep for the CTD, than a typical truck? Do they come in a 1500? or are they strictly 2500 and up? What about in the winter time, and the extremely cold weather. Is there a problem getting them started? |
RE: CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL???
Yes, the CTD gets a little bit better mileage than a Hemi. Plus the fuel prices areound here are about 25c less a gal for diesel fuel. Horsepower numbers are about the same for the Hemi and the CTD, but the diesel makes twice the Torque. Up keep is probably about the sameexcept for the fact that the Cummins takes 12qts. of oil I believe.. As of right now, the CTD is only available in the 2500 and 3500 models. Nowadays, the diesels have no problem starting in cold weather. Hope I answered all of your questions.

RE: CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL???
i agree with everything bgbluram said, and a diesel wont be available in the 1500 untill 2009 when they will introduce either a 4.4 or 4.6L V8 diesel...

Looking forward to that 1500 Diesel too.

RE: CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL???
A little better mileage? My CTD gets 33% better mileage than my wife's hemi and I don't baby it either. The Cummins will run forever and have a lot higher resale value than a gasser. Diesel FTW!

RE: CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL???
Yeah, CTD is definitely the way to go....if you've got the money. I'd like to see a RCSB 1500 diesel. All the benefits of a CTD, with none of the grandpa styling or long bed required. That'd be one sweet truck, a performer in every aspect.

RE: CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL???
yeah, most def! i dont like the long bed look either. plus, its already a pain in the ass to get out of a parking spot at school with my shortbed...

RE: CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL???
You guys apparently have alot of knowledge of CTD. Thanks for the info. By the way, how do you start a CTD? Does it need to be primed first? does it need to be plugged into a electrical outlet? Can a flowmaster exhaust be added.

RE: CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL???
eh... the v6 is way more powerful than the CTD. more torque, more HP and can haul a ****load more! SIKE!! [8D]
