I have two dodge 2002 1500 quad cab rams. On one of them when you first start the truck the RPMs rev up at about 1100.....I punch the gas peddle and they go back to normal........When I come to a stop the engine RPMs go from 500 upto 1000 back and forth......I have even noticed when driving on the highway with the cruise control on the RPMs also go up and down.....The mechanics have replaced vac hoses and run fuel cleaner thru the truck.....Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be????

 

A/C compressor kicking in? Although that shouldn't make it jump by 500rpm ....

 

No the a/c compressor is not cutting on and off. I did notice today also that when I start it up the rpm's go up to1500 and saty there until I punch the gas pedal then it starts the up and down rpms
