HEMI Break-In tips in Manual
I found it interestng how the manual states that after 60 miles, brief full throttle accelaration contributes to a good break-in. I've heard people say go all out when you buy a new car/truck while others have said don't push it too hard. This helps the rings and valves seat better.
I've always gone with the process of being gentle and rough. Don't hold a steady speed and be gentle with the brakes for the first five hundred miles. Full throttle acceleration every now and then, but vary the steady speeds. I've read that mountain driving is the best way, followed by city driving. Not too many mountains in Florida, so my '88 Chevy 1500 (my last NEW vehicle) was broken in this way and never had any engine problems. It was a POS in many other ways, but the drivetrain was strong and healthy. I miss that truck... It was fast and comfortable. Too bad it was such poor quality.
yoiu want a good engine rpm during break in, It helps the rings seat in the cylinder walls. The biggest things you dont want to do is run at a constant rpm all the time(until broke in) or tow too early. I would recommend changing the oil at 1k miles, too get all debree out of the engine. And enginge wears really fast for a short peroid untill break in is done, then its wear levels off. Just some ideas for you m8.
