Default Need help with P0403 error

P0403 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit Malfunction on a 2004 5.7 resulting in a ping/vibration.

Do EGR valves go bad? I removed mine and cleaned as well as I could with carb cleaner. The valve was in the closed position and nothing seemed to be clogged. Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this error or is there a shotgun approach that has a high probability of working? Also, where is a good place to purchase a replacement valve if needed? My truck has 45k miles and I was hoping it would be covered by an emmisions warranty but was told no due to the lack of CA emmisions.

Read your warranty manual about the emmisions. If it says you are corvered then take that in and force them to repair it. There is a different warranty if you live in CA so if you do look for it.

I would say yes. They can get clogged. It is recirculating exhaust gas and it is not clean. So build up could happen. I am sure you can buy one of these at an auto parts store or from the dealer parts shop.
