Thinkin about a new truck
hmmm...... thats interesting to know.... i definitely cant wait to get my ram i was gonna go really big with it but then its so much hassle with gears lift and all kinds of small adjustments for the larger tires but in order to do 35's i just need a leveling kit?...... what about gears? Also these hemi's..... how are they to work on compared to the 2nd gen magnums?
I have not had to any work to mine, but looking under the hood everything seems to be right there onlything that looks like it will be a bitch is the rear spark plugs, otherwise there is plenty of room in the engine bay and one serpentine belt. I like mine. My friend has a 2001 expedition and hismotor is almost impossible to work on, everything close together and a all out pain in the ***.

Copy what Ben D. said. My little bro has an '03 Ram QC 2500 with the Hemi.....came with stock 17" Rims............he put 315/75r/17 Tires on it (Hummer H2 tires) equivalent of 35x12x17.
He did the above with stock suspension...no rubbing. A little FYI though, in today gas market the hemi's up to and '05 are getting less that 15mpg avg..........whilst 06 & 07's are pullin' 15-23mpg....mine is averaging 19.2.....and I romp pretty hard and fairly often.

I want to know what your doing, I have yet to see that kinda mileage out of mine

I am only getting 9-11 mpg with 35's and 3.73 gears......Hoping 4.56 will help somewhat. I think the 2500's look OK with no leveling kit and 35's but look even better with it. Leveling kits are pretty inexpensive and easy to install. I found my 04 with low miles and snagged the 8/80 warranty. Just take the time to look and you will find something you will love.
i think you might actually get a better deal on a new one. it might be a few thousand more but go to a bigger dealer, and see if you can get yourself in a brand new one. my dad just got an 07 1500 slt lonestar edidtion with the hemi and 4x4 for 21k. its not fully loaded, but its got plenty of options on it.if you are getting a 3/4 ton it will be a bit more, but with the deals they have going on right now (in texas they are running "dodge truck month" advertisements and offering crazy deals) you could get a brand new truck with a full warranty for maybe 2-4k more than a used one.
yah i'd have to say if ur gonna be gettin a 2500, i wouldnt even **** around with the hemi...i'd go right for the CTD, dont get me wrong i mean i love my hemi, but come on now...gotta have a CTD in a 2500 or bigger
you might even get lucky and could possibly find a 05 or 06 that is a certified used vehicle, least that way you got a short warranty incase something happens and if it's certified then it's only gonna have so many miles on it and so on

I wish i could get the diesel but i just cant affoard one at this point im only 18 years old theyre great trucks but they are very expensive and are harder to work on for me because i have been working on gas engines since i was like 5 years old.
hey man i know how ya feel, i've been tinkering with cars since i was old enough to walk and my dad would take me with him and let me help in the garage....diesels really arent too bad to work on, granted they are harder then gas engines...but if you pay attention to what your doing and dont open up the high pressure fuel line then ur all good...we watched a video in my engine controls class 3 years ago about the CRD engines and it showed someone opening up a high pressure line and slicin right through cardboard like it was nothin....course 30,000PSI will do that
and, if your really into cars and such and you go to college for em then you'll get comfortable with em cause we worked on em like everyday for 6 months since none of us had any experience with em
