I have a 2007 RAM SLT 2500 and am trying to get a 3rd key programmed. I followed the instructions in the manual whichare below. But when I get to the 3rd step the truck never chimes. Weird thing is the theft light starts blinking after 10 seconds just like the instructions say it will but the truck never chimes. I have the 2 original key fobs and I can not figure out why. If I continue to the 4th step and inert the blank cut key the theft light continues to flash no matter how long I leave it on. I don't think the problem is in the key because something isn't right since the chime isn't occuring. I have searched the forums and I see mixed topics, one says the the directions work and one guy even said that the customer programming has been disabled for 2006 and newer Rams. Is the owners manual a misprint???

[ol][*]Cut the additional Sentry Key Transponder blank(s) to match the ignition switch lock cylinder key code[*]Insert the first valid key into the ignition switch and turn the ignition switch ON for at least 3 seconds but no longer than 15 seconds. Turn the ignition switch OFF and remove the first key.[*]Insert the second valid key and turn the ignition switch ON within 15 seconds. After ten seconds a chime will sound and the Theft Alarm Light will begin to flash. Turn the ignition switch OFF and remove the second key.[*]Insert a blank Sentry Key into the ignition switch and turn the ignition switch ON within 60 seconds. After 10 seconds a single chime will sound. The Theft Alarm Light will stop flashing, turn on for 3 seconds; then turn off. The new Sentry key has been programmed. [/ol]

 

Because your truck is new, I would go back to the dealer and have them do it. They should do it for free because it sounds simple and quick. Good luck. Red

 

Do you have the right sentry key there is a grey and tan headed key. The 07's use the tan keyI think
