So the engine light came on a while back and I had diagnostics hooked up at Autozone and it read some sort of emissions leak. They said it was more than likely the gas cap/ gas cap sensor. So I bought a new gas cap...no big deal and they reset the comp so the light went off.I called the dealer and asked about this problem...he agreed that it could have been the gas cap more than likely and that he had seen it happen before. So now the light has come back on and I'm thinking I might have an exhaust leak up near the headers / exhaust manifold. Anybody heard of this problem in a '03 Dodge Ram quad cab Hemi ? Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. If nothing comes of it I'll just take it to the dealer and for $80 he can hook it up to there diagnostics which would be more specific as to what the problem is. Thought I'd get everyones input first. Thanks !

 

What is the P code?

If its emissions, it's not the headers.

 

yeah my mom had a 99 caravan and the same thing happend......the gas cap was loose and they closed it, and then reset it and it was fine.......

 

don't know the code.

 

go back to autozone. have them check it again and have them print it out for you. it will tell you the code plus when the code means. if you have the code i could tell you what it is by looking into the haynes manual

 

i betcha it is P0440.
