Default Newbie Question

Been visiting the board now for about 6 months and finally decided to join. I bought a 2006 Ram Quad Cab Big Horn Edition short bed about six months ago and love it. I have a question that I cant seem to get an answerfor anywhere else so I'll ask here. I have the opportunity to purchase an A.R.E. fiberglass tonneau cover really cheap. But it is pre 2002. According to A.R.E. website it will not fit my truck. I tried calling A.R.E. and asking them. The only thing they knew was it had to do something with the width of the bed. Does anybody know what the difference is before and after 2002 and is there anyway to make this work on my truck???? Thanks in advance.

well first off welcome to the site! what took you so long to join? second, how good of a deal are you getting on this tonneau cover, and are you dead set on getting a fiberglass one? the reason i ask is you can probably get a brand new soft tonneau cover for less then what your paying for the used fiberglass one! in my own opinion i think the soft tonneau covers are better then the hard ones because of the versatility, ie: completely removable, nothing bolts onto your truck, works and looks just as good as a hard tonneau cover, and is far less expensive!! thirdly, to answere your question if thatfiberglass cover would fit i dont think it would because the newertruck bedshave a curve on the outer part of the bed rail. (but im not sure it wouldnt fit either, just dont think it would) hope this helps and welcome aboard!!

Should be a simple thing to set it on and see if it will work. Like tailgatedrinkin said, it's probably the sloping curves on the outside edges of the bed that are different. If you add a molded rubber bed rail, it may help it fit.

Pre-2002 bed is in square, Post-2002sides of bed are not parallel---- front of bed is wider than rear. Cover will not fit.
