Oh ya on the new battery, It has a sticker on it showing the date it was manufactured and it was only 2 months ago.

I agree though, I have bought brand new batteries before that was bad. This may be the problem. I will let them test the battery when I carry it in. But I did want to be sure that the Light Bar I added was not the cause.

Hi Foiled,

I didn't mean to insinuate that you did a bad job of an install. From the sound of it you did a great job.

I know the pain of getting stranded.

Most autoparts stores have a mobile batter/alternator check station and its afree test. So they can test it in the parking lot.

The check as mentioned earlier is a good starting point. It typically works on almost all vehicles. and if you are mechanically savvy usually you can determine what is a normal draw vs what is a parasitic draw.

Best of luck Foiled

Did you ever find the source of the power drain?

No, There has been another new battery installed at the dealership. They couldn't find a drain and wanted to replace the battery again.

I guess all I can do is wait and see if it happens again.

I seem to have the same problem, today for the second time after the truck sits for 2 days dead! luckly it has happened at home (2X). It is just dead no lights nothing, and jump start it fine, and works for a week or two now it is dead today. The truck is a 2006 5.7 hemi, I guess another trip to the dealer??
let me know if you find a solution!

i had a 94 F-250 that had this problem. after about 2 days-nothing. i had it to 2 different shops and checked it myself and no problems were found. i ended up getting rid of it for a chevy. no more fords for me (4wd quit working,3 quartsof oil every 1000 miles with only 70,000 on it, and 8 mpg).

I had this problem once with a vehicle not my Dodge. Turns out the lighter was always on and with out a lighter in it and just the plug who knew. Eventually it would drain the battery

I have had it happen 3 or 4 more times. I just have not taken it back to the dealer. I have to jump it off. I have been lucky and every time it is while I am parked in my driveway. It seems it happens over the weekend. I can't find what is draining the battery and I just don't have the time to take it in every month for a new battery. It will happen again and I think this time I will just let them start towing it in and then file a complaint to Dodge.

Oh ya I forgot. Every time it happens now I get a check engine light after I get it started. I forgot the codes but one is low voltage(Duh) but the other is something in the transmission. I will try to write it down when it does it this month.
