Hello everyone,

I have an '06 1500 Quad Cab Sport 4x4... only has about 27,000km's on it. Truck is great - except noticed 2 odd things when driving.

1st... every now and then the truck gets VERY loud! Hard to describe... but almost like a really loud transmission. It will last a few mins and then go back to normal. Nothing in particular brings it on... seems random. Unable to reproduce, so no point going to dealer yet. Tranny shifts fine during it too it seems. Best way to describe... almost the same sound as if you were just cruising along and then floored it. The engine and transmission would be louder all of a sudden. My truck is like that even if barely moving along from time to time.

2nd... sometimes when sitting at a light, the truck feels like it wants to stall. It never has (yet) - but it's almost like the kind of thing that happens when you run out of fuel, or in a manual don't shift properly and it stalls. Again, doesn't do it all the time... so hard to bring into the dealer with.

Searched around to see if anyone had similar problems... but couldn't find much. Thanks in advance for any help!

 

Do the rpms shoot up along with the noise?

 

Maybe a little bit, but not by much. Like it gets so loud when this happens that it's almost hard to have a conversation in the truck and people around me look over hahaha

 

Sounds like a faulty EGR valve and/or 02 sensor. I had somthing which sounds similar in my 04, Quad Cab Hemi.

 

Check engine light?

 

No check engine light on... will have to look into the EGR valve/O2 sensor.
