Default Limited Slip additive or NOT?????

I always thought that all limited slips needed an additive. I looked at my owners manual today and if I read it right, it states that only 1500's need the additive, NOT 2500's.

I asked a mechanic (not a dealer mechanic) and he stated thatit would be stupid to not add an additive and would smoke my reardiffin no time.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Really can't offer any advice on the 2500. But on the 1500's they take 5oz of the additive......You might be better off contacting the dealership about that one. You don't want to make a mistake with something like that.

The American axels on the 2500 are not supposed to need additive. They are not Dana's and operate differently. However, some people get chatter in the rear end and I believe the factory now recommends the anti-slip be put in. I'm doing mine soon and will add it.
