Default Replacment Keys

I had a new alarm system imstalled in my 2006 Q Cab 1500 V-6, I was going to have the remote starting system also installed.

The shop I took it to was telling me I had to have both keys so they could make the system work the shop was telling me the keys for my truck had a computer chip in them.

I went home and asked my wifefor herset ofspare keys I should of Known better than give her the spare set of keys she lost them with all the other spare key I have given her in the past.

I went to the dealer today waiting to here the bad news. I have heard $91.00 for Replacement key mainly because the computer chip keyand they have to program it.

They told me if you have the thin black key they don't have the computer chip in them Yea thats me $15.00 per key I had 2 more made.

If you Have the Gray key Thick keys DON'T lose one if you have both sets you can buy a replacement key for cheap and program it you'r self it in the back of you owners booklet.

So what I passing on if you do have both gray key sets make a copy now before you do lose one It will save you a bunch of cash down the road.

Default RE: Replacment Keys

My fiance went through this same thing at the Ford dealership with her Mustang....unless she had 2 keys, they had to reprogram the entire car & new keys. Sucked, but had to be done, and wasn't cheap.
