Default gear ratio difference

Hello, talked to my friend who might be trading his truck in. I told him if he does I want to trade him my 17" rims for his 20". he said that there is a different stock gear ratio for the trucks with 20s as oppose to those with factory 17s, Is this true?

no, the rim size doesnt effect the gear ratio from the factory. I'm not positive but i believe 1500's only come from the factory with 3.55 and 3.92 and i've seen trucks with both gear ratio's with both sizes of rims. The rim size won't matter at all for the gear ratio.

Just so you know at least when i got my 05 there where 3 ratio chocies. 4:10 if you got the offroad package, 3:92 standard with 20" rims and 3:55 standard ratio. The 3:92 was an option with the 17" rims but came standard with the sport package no mater what rim size.

If you keep the tire size stock it won't effect anything.
