EGR Valve??
I had check engine light go on and since I just turned 37K I couldn't take it to the dealer anymore. The truck had been stuttering in and out when driving at lower speeds (40-55mph) and then the light came on.
I took it in and they run a diagnostics on it and said to replace the EGR valve or to clean out the EGR tube. Is this usually just the EGR valve or should replace the tube as well?
Also they had an EGR Gasket on there and EGR tube seal. Please advise as to what you change to resolve this issue and if the EGR gasket is needed when ordering the part.
TIA!

I second hemiyellow. Your egr is on the way out. I'm willing to bet you've noticed poor fuel mileage lately too. Replace those parts and your troubles should be gone. I wouldn't think that your egr/egr tube would be full of carbon deposits yet, seeing how new your truck is, unless you consistently run poor quality gasoline, but even then it shouldn't be from deposits this soon.
Ok I just bought the replacement EGR valvle from a dealership for 47.80 and I THINK it came with a gasket on it... it has a black removalble 'gasket piece around the bolts. Is that the gasket? I'm hoping...
please advise.
please advise.
it's not hard at all...just a couple bolts, elec. connector and thats about it...just make sure you clean the surface where the replacement egr valve will go and your set.....well i was gonna copy the instructions out of the service manual if you wanted to get technical but i cant seem to find my service manual.....i'll find it later and get it posted
