Auto or Stick And Problems?
Well, I have a 5sp, so not much of a problem here, but 3 of my friends had to work on their auto Rams (one '99 @ 90K miles - Chicago, one '94 @ 95K miles - Chicago and one @120K miles - Tulsa). I also know a guys that owns a transmission repair shop here in Tulsa and this is what he said:
Dodge Auto transmissions are great and very reliable as long as you take good care of them. They are so friggin' long that if you let the fluid run dirty it doesn't reach all the spots at the right pressure. He said that he's seen a properly maintained tranny go for over 200K miles with no problem. On the other hand he loves people who don't take care of their trucks
They make him a lot of money...

I would try and get a standard, I have not heard of ANY problems in a standard dodge just the auto's unless the gear got stuck between between which happened to a friend of mine but other than that stick I have heard nothing but good from them.
I would love to have a stick with the hemi if i got one but if i go with a hemi it's gonna be a 1500 rcsb. The only thing that would make me sacrifice the rcsb would be a 2500 qcsb CTD. I wouldn't want the qcsb stick hemi. Now a rcsb hemi sport 4x4 with a six speed woudl be sick.
