Default Axle fluid level

I am new to the truck maintenace thing and was wondering how to to check the axle fluid level. The manuel says 'check level' but does not exactly say how. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you are referring to your differential fluid just pull out the fill plugs and it should be filled right up to the hole. I have also heard that the rear differential should be like 2-3 millimeters below the hole but, my dealership just advised to the hole. If you are concerened about checking it you might want to just go ahead and change it. This web site has some great do it yourself info.

Rear diff fluid level should be 1/4 inch below the hole on level ground. There's a handy manual at the top of this forum titled something like, "awesome website, merry christmas" that links to a downloadable FSM for the Ram.
